I find midlife women who have their own business are particularly formidable. They know their financial future is secure and cannot be taken away by the whims of some man, employer or government.

Women are so much more practical and creative in money matters when they know the basic rules of business and finance.

In the Middle Ages, women were denied access to the usual earning occupations by a combination of the Patriarchy and the Church.

So those with any drive and ingenuity became merchants. Here, they were able to use their practical skills and common sense to support themselves and their families. In some cases, to become very rich and influential.
