You Can’t Cure It

And You Can’t Prevent It

First, many women go to their GP with the many possible symptoms of the Perimenopause. They come away disappointed because the condition cannot be cured or medically treated because it is not an illness.

Second, it cannot be avoided or prevented because it is a natural process. The much-discussed HRT may give some relief to some women but is only a delaying tactic. The changes going on are not just physical but also psychological. We are literally changing our minds!

Thirdly, the only thing we can do is manage our perimenopause by adjusting our lifestyle, understanding and self-care regimes to empower our body and mind to cope with what is going on for us.

All our Experts will help you to address these issues in various ways.

May Cheung

Managing Menopause Expert

May Cheung takes a holistic approach to dealing with the challenges of middle life. This means looking at the bigger picture rather than just the symptoms.  These symptoms are often laid at the door of the Perimenopause.

However, these conditions are made significantly worse by trying to ignore them and carry on as before. Midlife women often have major challenges and accept demands on them from their careers, their children, their parents and other social responsibilities.

These can build to high stress levels and need professional help to disentangle and dismantle them if a breakdown is to be avoided.

This is the service May has evolved, but she much prefers to catch conditions before they get to danger point.

YOUR ATTITUDE TO THE MENOPAUSE

At times you may feel so awful that you think your world is coming to an end. Instead, try to see it as the beginning of a new phase of your life.

You will find that in this new phase of your life, which we call Middle Life or Midlife, many things will be different, mostly better, and you will have a new freedom to live the life you want.

You will probably have seen teenagers go through a similar physical and mental change period in their lives. This midlife change is similar, except that teenagers can spend much of the time sleeping, and we don’t have that freedom!  LOL
