Spring into Action – Seasonal Transition for Your Wardrobe

Spring into Action – Seasonal Transition for Your Wardrobe

The daffodils are springing into bloom, lambs are frolicking, and hope is in the air. Time to consider how to transition from cooler winter weather to warmer spring weather. This doesn’t necessitate a total revamp of your wardrobe and transitioning doesn’t have to be complicated. So, let’s look at how we can welcome in some lightweight layers to embrace the new season, transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring with ease.

A simple swap to a light trench coat can make a big difference

Many winter pieces can be used in new ways for spring. Have you considered wearing a classic trench coat with white jeans, a leather biker jacket with floral dresses and cardigans over jeans or a silky tank over a dress?

Light layers are crucial for transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring and include lighter sweaters, cardigans and knits that aren’t too heavy or chunky. Layering is key for cold mornings that feel more like winter but turn warm and sunny in the afternoon. Several layers of lightweight pieces can be peeled away with greater ease than a single layer of bulky warmth. Layers are also ideal for peri or post menopausal ladies too!

When choosing lighter layers, be sure to choose lighter hues too. Spring is light and bright with pastels, florals and neutrals. Leave those dark sweaters in the wardrobe! It’ll instantly make your outfit feel spring-ready with minimal effort but with a touch of winter to keep you warm when it’s still a bit chilly. That’s the balance we’re aiming for! Even swapping out dark wash or black jeans for cream or pale blue makes a huge difference.

A great winter to spring transition looks is a dress (or skirt) with boots. Avoid heavy winter boots and instead grab ankle boots or even Dr Martens. It’s the perfect combo for spring transitional outfits. And if it’s cooler outside add a cosy cardigan or even an oversized boyfriend blazer to complete the look. But try to keep colours light and fabrics lighter instead of chunky heavy wool.

Definitely mix and match the seasons. If you DO love that burgundy sweater, just pair it with white jeans and a classic tan trench to transition it nicely. If you love your winter cashmere sweater, add it to a midi skirt and sneakers. And if you are SO ready for that summer dress, wear it with boots and a leather jacket. Mix and match, simply keeping in mind fabrics and lighter layers.

A lightweight, lighter-coloured sweater paired with everyday jeans is a great way to transition to spring. Plus, swapping the boots, for a peep toe mule instantly makes your outfit feel more spring ready.

So my Ten Top Tips for Seasonal Transition can be summarised as :

  • Lighter fabrics
  • Easily removable layer
  • Swap your shoes
  • Try cropped jeans
  • Lighter colours
  • Accessorise your winter items with accessories from spring.
