While alone, I kept in touch with Jean, my brothers in Manila, and other relatives and friends. Online platforms became a lifeline, helping us stay connected through the storm. I was able to send updates, but by nightfall, I lost both power and Wi-Fi connection, leaving me without contact just as the floodwaters reached their highest point.
Sadly, I witnessed neighbours and acquaintances pleading for rescue on social media, but with no boats available, the strong currents and height of the flood—reaching up to 6 feet—made rescue efforts impossible.
