Business Intro

The word business has over a dozen different definitions in the Microsoft dictionary. Rather than get bogged down in these, we should remember its origin—busyness.

We are all busy. That’s why these articles are short.

What are we busy doing?

The most common answer is work. This may be to earn money, run a household, or raise a family.

Usually, it’s all three!

And what are we working for?

Some say money. Others say security or peace of mind. Some just want to keep everything ticking over. But many women—especially in midlife—have forgotten what they’re really working for.

It’s easy to lose ourselves in endless doing. We tell ourselves, “If I just work harder, it will all work out.”

But what if it’s not about working harder?

Time to Reassess What Business Means to You

For midlife women, this is often the season of re-evaluation. The children may be older. Careers may feel stale or demanding in new ways. Relationships may shift.

So ask yourself: Is your busyness still serving you?

Is your version of “business” bringing joy, purpose, or meaning? Or has it become a treadmill you can’t step off?

Busyness Without Fulfilment Is Not Success

Women often carry the invisible weight of keeping life together for everyone else. But now, it might be time to redefine success on your terms.

Maybe it means starting something new—a passion project, a flexible business, or simply creating space for rest and creativity.

Business with Purpose Feels Different

Being in business—whether that means a job, a side hustle, or running a home—can feel energising when it’s rooted in your values and well-being.

You don’t have to do more. You just need to do what matters most.

Final Thought

Busyness can be addictive. But meaning is magnetic.

As you step into this phase of life, consider this: What would your days look like if your “business” reflected who you truly are now?

Let’s explore that together—one short, honest article at a time.

Love,
Jean
