Early to Bed
Early to Bed and Early to Rise
Makes a Midlife Woman Healthy, Wealthy and Wise.
Apologies for updating Benjamin Franklin, who wrote the original quote over 300 years ago.
The main theme in the Butterfly Club magazine at the moment is You and Your Health.
Andrea has created some lovely memes, and I am choosing ones I feel I can contribute.
We all need more and better sleep. This particularly applies to midlife women, partly because our bodies are changing. Do you remember how much teens sleep when their bodies are changed? It is more difficult for us because there are so many demands on our time. We can end the day feeling too tired to make the effort of getting to bed.
I have arranged for a lifestyle coach to check my sleeping habits for the last couple of years. She wants a text from me every night to let me know that I am in bed by the agreed time. This results in me getting seven and a half to eight hours of sleep. The effect on my health and energy has been transformative. I can get up early without effort. She lets me go to bed later and sleep on weekends, but I rarely do as I don’t need sleep.
You could set up a similar arrangement with a friend who also wants to get more sleep. The difference it makes when you hold yourself accountable to someone else is amazing.
Love Jean
