Are you a Half Person?

Are you half a person?

A myth tells the story of how Zeus, the king of the Greek Gods, got so sick of the troublesome humans that he had them all cut in half.
So now their human energy was diverted to searching for their ‘other half’.
This has led to other myths, such as ‘Meeting your Soul Partner’, ‘Your Lifelong Love’, and ‘Finding the One’.
I would like you to know this myth IS NOT TRUE.

It is a myth, a simple story created to explain to simple people something thought to be too awesome for them to understand.
Finding Love, or a partner if you want one, is much more complex and interesting, especially in middle life and beyond. It is a game in which sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose.
It grieves me to hear people refer to their ‘Other Half’ because it implies they see themselves as only half a person. This may be peculiar to the UK, but it is widespread here. Only women say this, and it is nearly always midlife women. I have never heard a man say it.This shows a lack of confidence and self-worth. They may not think it is important, but words are powerful, and what you say usually comes into existence.
To have a satisfying relationship, you need to be a complete person in your own right. If you need someone else to make you feel complete, the probability is that you can only attract another needy person. This will lead to co-dependence, which is unhealthy for both parties.
In a recent book I listened to on Audible, Jay Shetty discusses the first rule of being Loveable: to love yourself. And how do you do that?
He says you must get to know yourself!
A woman who is complete and able to stand on her own feet is much more likely to attract interest from an interesting potential lover.

The Midlife Butterfly Club aims to help you find and get to know your midlife self so you can love and be happy in the second half of your life.
