How to stop the blah, that is holding you back!

How to stop the blah, blah, blah that is holding you back is simpler than we make it seem. It sounds easy on paper, but reality tends to complicate it. We set a goal, and suddenly our minds flood with doubts and chatter.

I propose that this happens because of one thing — the incessant “blah, blah, blah” running through our minds. This chatter creates blocks that stall our dreams.

I don’t know what your version of that blah will be. Maybe it is the “I don’t know how to” blah. Or the “I’m not ready for” blah. Perhaps even the “I don’t deserve it” blah. It might also be the “I have to work hard to achieve it” blah. So what’s your preferred blah tipple?

Our blah, blah, blah is a safety mechanism. It tries to protect us from hurt and disappointment. Once upon a time, we had a dream. We knew the truth of that dream. We knew it was our destiny. Then we made the mistake of sharing it with someone we looked up to.

They didn’t mean to crush it, but they did. Maybe they told you it was unrealistic or risky. Or they simply gave you that look — the one that said, Don’t be silly. That was when the blah, blah, blah took root. It wrapped around your dream, disguised as caution.

Simple ways to stop the blah, blah, blah

First, notice it. Pay attention to the thoughts that arise when you move toward what you want. Label them clearly.

Second, thank it. Your mind has been trying to protect you in its own way. Gratitude softens its grip.

Third, refocus. Bring your attention back to what you want, not why you think you cannot have it.

Finally, act anyway. Action dissolves blah faster than waiting for confidence to appear.

Your dream is still there. It is just waiting underneath the noise. So today, smile at your blah, blah, blah — and do it anyway.

Life is really incredibly easy.
Notice something in your life that you don’t like,
Decide what you would like instead.
bring it into being.
Job done.
