How is your New Year going? We start the year with good intentions or New Year’s resolutions, but all too soon, it turns into ‘Same Old, Same Old’.
Often, this is because we express our New Year’s resolutions in the Negative. We say we are going to give up something or stop doing something. This has a built-in failure mechanism. One lapse and the resolution is gone.
Instead, I suggest we should focus on the Positive. If we decide to start doing something then we are always moving forward, even if we start late or have interruptions. What is more the New Year’s Resolution can last for the whole year even if it is a bit erratic.
For example, I started Zumba classes just before Christmas. I haven’t been every week and now I intend to go every week unless there is a valid reason why I can’t.
